FAQs

How can we help you?

Arrive no later than 9am. Ten minutes earlier would do no harm to prepare.

Yes you will be able to park your vehicle near the fishing Shiel.

You need to bring along your own equipment as we don’t provide fishing equipment at Milne Graden. If you need to hire equipment please get in touch before you arrive and we will arrange to help you with this. Basics might include both fly and spinning rod, reel, lines, tips, waders, net if you have one, warm clothing, sunglasses (ideally polaroids), fishing tackle and plenty of flies.

Your dog would be welcome to sit on the bank whilst you fish. Families often pop down to join fisherman for a pic nic at lunch time so that’s no problem.

The ghillie will be with you form 9am until 5pm.

Some other beats do a separate hire for a ghillie but not us. Our ghillies services are included in the cost of the rod but its generally good sportsmanship to tip the ghillie at the end of the day for looking after you.

We are conservation minded at Milne Graden and follow the catch and release  Spring Salmon Conservation Measures of the Tweed.

The ghillie will advise you, his advice is aligned with conservation methods for the Tweed as salmon are becoming more and more rare.

The ghillie and boatman will be around to help you. Should you require further assistance David Platt at FBR Seed would be the best contact in a case of emergency.

Please note that due to our rural position our postcode covers a large area and SatNav directions often lead visitors to North Lodge gates. This entrance is only open to service vehicles. Continue to Park End Lodge (entrance without any gates) and continue down the drive to signage located on the left before Milne Graden House. The signage directs you right down a track towards the Tweed.
