The Milne Graden Estate

Booking Conditions are subject to the following terms and conditions:

  1. Your booking will be confirmed by email and will detail the sum due, this is payable in full within 14 days of the date of the booking confirmation. Please send cheques made payable to The Milne Graden Estate to the address on the invoice or, alternatively, make payment by BACS.  No booking is finalised until payment is received in full. The booking will be provisional for the period stated and then if payment is not received the hold will be automatically dropped.
  2. No refunds will be made after booking if you subsequently decide not to come. However, if requested we will try to fill the booking for you subject to the proprietors’ priority, and a 10% surcharge for administration being payable by you within 14 days of demand (and your remaining liable for the sum stated in Condition 1 hereof if we are unable to fill the booking). In the event that the law prevents Milne Graden from operating the fishing due to specific government guidance, or implementation of a travel lockdown prevents you from travelling, we are happy to credit your payment towards another booking (subject to availability and price) later.
  3. Subletting rods is prohibited unless with our prior written consent and then only by private arrangement at the same price and terms and conditions contained herein.
  4. Once a day has started no rod may be swapped or shared without our written permission.
  5. In line with general fishing practice no refunds will be made if the weather or river conditions prevent you from fishing.
  6. The season is from 1st February to 30th November and fishing on Sundays is prohibited.
  7. To help prevent an outbreak of Gyrodactyus Salaris all rods must complete a Gyrodactylus declaration, a copy of which will be sent to you with your booking confirmation. This form must be presented to the ghillie or fishery manager on arrival at the beat, duly signed by you and any other members of your party. It will ask you to declare that you have not been to any foreign river in the last three months, or if you have, that you have properly disinfected your fishing tackle and waders using an approved method.  In the absence of either declaration you will not be allowed to fish until your tackle has been properly disinfected using an approved method and the appropriate declaration presented to the ghillie or fishery manager.
    • Approved methods of disinfection are:
    • Drying to a minimum of 20 degrees centigrade for at least two days.
    • Heating to above 60 degrees centigrade for at least one hour.
    • Deep freezing for at least one day.
    • Immersion of materials for a minimum of ten minutes in a water solution of one of the chemicals in the concentration indicated: Vikron 1%; Wescodyne 1%; Sodium chloride (common salt) 3%; Sodium hydroxide 0.2%.
  8. Prior to your first days fishing please make contact with Mr Kevin Wright on mobile number 07557 020037 to arrange to meet the ghillie at the fishing Shiel at 09:00 on your first morning so that he can collect your Gyrodcatylus declaration and also show you the river if you or any of your party are not familiar with the Milne Graden beats.
  9. All returns of fish caught including nil returns are to be recorded in the book in the fishing shiel or reported to the ghillie at the end of each days fishing.
  10. The fishery manager or ghillie’s decision is final in all matters including safety aspects which relate to this fishery.
  11. On or before 15th February and on or after 14th September fishing is with a fly only. At other times you are asked to have a good try with a fly first and only resort to a spinner if you really have to in the last part of your visit.
  12. No shrimps, prawns, worms or gaffs are to be used at any time.
  13. Foul hooked and gravid fish must be returned to the water.
  14. The Estate will pay all fishing levies and taxes.
  15. When fishing, life jackets should be worn and are available loan free on request. Guests must ensure that they are suitably and adequately equipped and the proprietors take no responsibility nor any liability in this respect.
  16. All sections of the Tweed Angling code (and any amendments) are adopted by the proprietors and must be strictly observed by rods fishing the water. Specifically, this means that up to 30th June fish must be returned. Fish caught after 30th June should be returned if they are not fresh and therefore likely to be Spring stock.
  17. You shall indemnify the proprietors in respect of any damage or injury done to the proprietors’ property or any adjoining property or persons, or animals including without prejudice to the foregoing generality against any third party claims arising from any breach of the obligations hereunder and/or any act, omission or negligence of you, your guests or those for whom you are legally responsible and/or the exercise or purported exercise of any permission or right granted in terms of this Agreement
  18. You undertake to the proprietors to comply with all U.K., Scottish Parliament, and EEC statutes, statutory instruments and regulations and all Local Authority and/or other regulations relating to the exercise or purported exercise of any permission or right granted in terms of this Agreement.
